The Unexpected Graveyard

While exploring the grounds of a local winery, my husband and I were surprised to see a little plot of land at the top of it. As we stepped into the gated area we realized that it was a graveyard, but not of the family that owned the winery. They were old and some of the stone were cracked and broken. Some dated in the 1700's and I couldn't help but find it the more beautiful side of the vineyard. I felt a sense of peace and sadness, hoping that the family's who's relatives were in there didn't forget about them. It was silent, due to it being so secluded at the end of a vineyard, that I wished I could have stayed there for hours. Thinking of who these people were, and what they did in their lives. While there, I took a few pictures and I wish I would have taken more.

My Rear Window

I moved up to Oregon with my family about 6 years ago and automatically claimed the room at the top of the stairs. It was a complete mess, haha! I don't know what it is about this room, but the windows are my favorite part. We live in an old 1910 house, so everything is rustic and old. The windows are not finished and broken, but I love it! I love everything about it and all it's flaws. I feel as though, because of the flaws I love it just that much more. Outside my windows I see rooftops to our neighbors houses and I just couldn't help but make my post today about it.

I'm the crazy cat lady... with a camera

Yes, I have to admit I have two cats. They are both boy cats and are the entertainment of my day, sadly. Haha!  I've had my black and white cat for 10 years and just recently brought home my husbands cat who's about 3 years old. They remind me of that Step Brothers movie, only they still haven't gotten along. As soon as I started taking my first couple of pictures I ran straight to where my cats were. My husband made fun of me for it, but they are very photogenic, Haha! so while I was playing with a few pictures I had just taken, I just couldn't help but post these. Don't judge, just admire the quality of my camera HAHA!

This is Stevie, my 3 years old cat

Rumor has it

Rumor has it, that there's this castle close to where I live. They imported stones from Ireland and pieced it together to create this really amazing, rustic looking castle. One day while driving down the road my mom and I finally saw it, tucked into a forest on a hill. We swerved off the road and just stared at it in amazement. A few weeks ago I took a few pictures of it, but for their privacy, I'm only posting the one that I just fell in love with while adjusting my pictures. It doesn't give much detail on the castle, but the picture, I thought, was pretty awesome! HAHA! 

No details on this picture, unfortunately, I was taking them when I first started using this camera and I don't know what the settings were. 

  

Our Brilliant and Beautiful Rango!

I've only heard stories of our dear friend, Rango through a friend of mine. He sounded fun and exciting, and my breath quickened as I stepped out of my friends car and practically ran into the room he was living in. There he was, the little chameleon I'd heard so much about. I quickly sat on my friends bed and stared at Rango through his tall glass tank. The humidifier created a waterfall effect of fog that crawled around the branches and crept through the wood chips on the floor. He was beautiful and as soon as our eyes met I knew it was love haha! I took out my camera and snapped a few that I thought would be worthy enough to post.

Good Day :)

I feel incredibly blessed living in such a beautiful area. When I was younger it would have taken me hours to drive up and find beautiful wooded areas like this one. While my husband was on leave, we decided to explore the waterfalls around our little town here and on our way there we pasted through these great photo shot views. I was going crazy! I'm still getting used to having a digital camera for my photographs, I took like 3 shots of each picture I wanted! It took me hours to go through these pictures and find the ones I favor over others.

A little less upbeat ...

My husband left for Afghanistan last July. It's been a hard journey but I feel for everyone who has a loved one out there. He gave me a map and stuck a little arrow showing me where he will be. I sometimes find myself just staring at it, hoping he can feel my presence with him. My mood today is a little less upbeat, but I have so much more I want to share and so much more I have to learn, that, hopefully when you start seeing more of my blogs you will see the passion I have for what I do. Thank you!

Adventures of a wanna be photographer... here we go!

Let me get to the point, I love taking photographs, I just don't know if I'm good at it yet. I started about 10 years ago when my parents bought me a Canon EOS Rebel G. It was beautiful, and I wasted a lot of film, but as soon as I got them developed, I knew this was something I was going to do the rest of my life. My husband got me a Canon EOS 60D for Christmas. Two EOS 60D books and two instructional DVDs later, I won't lie by saying I'm not feeling overwhelmed, but it has become an obsession of mine to make every picture I take absolutely perfect. So, here I go, don't really know what I'm doing. 


These are one of my favorites taken here in my hometown of Oregon. Enjoy!


These were Taken in Cottage Grove, Oregon with my Canon (Frank as I like to call him) EOS 60D EFS 18-135mm on the lens I attached a Tiffen Digital HT Multi Coated Filter. I am still a beginner, so all the little details to these photos I don't really know yet.
